About Fredericton Early Learning Center Inc.

We opened our doors in beautiful downtown Fredericton in 2001. We are located in an historic house that provides a wonderful "home away from home" feeling. The lovely old house and our spacious, shaded back yard are a wonderful place to spend the days playing, discovering and learning.

Our Early Childhood Educators all hold college accreditation, a university education degree or are currently enrolled in course work towards it. We have excellent continuity at our center with an average number of years spent as part of our team being 9.

Provide a strong foundation by encouraging self - regulation, development of problem solving skills and a healthy self esteem in each child we have the privilege of knowing.

We follow the provincially mandated New Brunswick Early Childhood Emergent Curriculum. It is a child led, interest inspired curriculum. It focuses on the emotional, social and intellectual development of the whole child. The creative, mathematical, and pre-literacy skills being practised by the children are inherent to the activity and area of discovery and exploration the children have expressed an interest in. The milestones the children achieve are noted and recorded primarily in anecdotal and pictorial forms.

We believe that the foundation for all academic learning is a positive sense of self and the ability to navigate, in a socially acceptable manner, the waters of life. We help provide a strong foundation by encouraging self - regulation, development of problem solving skills and a healthy self esteem in each child we have the privilege of knowing. We encourage the children to achieve the development of these important traits by respecting the child and their decisions. We allow them to have a voice in their daily lives and see them not as empty vessels to be filled, but recognize the existing knowledge they bring to learning opportunities as we learn together. We challenge ourselves as educators to see the competency of each child, to believe in children and to commit ourselves to helping them reach their potential.
